The Road
I.
There are no more paths to choose
verdant in their undulating seduction,
encompassed in sharp blue and vines
rising overhead abundant
with meaning - pollinated in dew,
like the space between two bodies
expectant heat supple with entry.
Both paths to choose
two slits green of smoky cat
independent either way.
II.
Only the clipping heel
around the corner of the hall
distant-sightless-removed
like the terror of noises
lessened with the light, yet
remaining the divisions of the night-
particle and fabric of our
phosphorescence.
Copulation a concession to the necessity
for immolation in nonexistence-
merely night's seduction.
Clipping like the steady voice of creation
rushing to ruin in ingenious
production of pretty fruit.
III.
Our paths are of a higher
order now
as long tunnels are
in tiny triangular holes of uncertainty
at either end.
We live with roaches for our friends
shoulder companions-guides-confidants
intimate-dependable like street bums,
and if there is a path to follow
their inscrutable leavings provide
and interesting course.
